About Me

I lived at Harrietsfield near Ancrum between 1949 and 1962.   I attended JGS from 1949 - 1953 then Hawick High for a year before starting my first job at George Hogg & Sons Ltd which I worked for eight years before emigrating to Australia in 1962.

I have a brother Donald who still lives at Harrietsfield.   I have one son but six stepchildren and 31 grandchildren, and we're losing count of the great grandchildren.   Since acquiring a computer I have been able to keep in touch with family and friends in Scotland but so far, only one person I went to school with in Jedburgh!   I think most of them must have moved!!

About Me

I run my own butchers shop in Jedburgh since 2005 and going really well. Still a member of the jethart callant festival committee. Live at Easter Ulston Jedburgh with my partner Christine and two of her children Megan and Ryan my own Daughter Rebecca lives with her mother in Ancrum. For the next three years I have the great privilege to have been chosen as the 2013-2015 jethart herald , the feeling of pride is unbelievable, can't wait for festival day itself, the support already from the public has been unreal and to be part of jethart s history is mindblowing.    SAFE OOT SAFE IN.

About Me

I am an ardent supporter of Our Jethart Festival and most other border celebrations for that matter. I have followed the festival for most of my 65 years, on foot, bicycle and by car although never on a horse.(too feart).  I have to say that thanks to the weather which in turn brought out the huge crowds i think helped make the 2010 festival one of the best ever. The principles were a credit, not only to their town but to their families and friends and carried out their duties to the highest order setting standards for the youth of to-day to emulate. The general comments from other towns seemed to echo these sentiments also.Thank you all for a super time. Enjoy the winter as we look forward with keen anticipation to next year.
